It’s been a while since we’ve analysed a player hasn’t it? Think we should do it again viewers? OK, going to our random player analysis wheel… we’re spinning, we’re spinning, we’re spinning… oh looky here, we got Mo’ Salah!

The PL has graced some of the most prolific, deadliest of strikers the world has had the privilege to watch. Legends like Alan Shearer, Andy Cole, Van Nistelrooy, Thierry Henry and Didier Drogba, to modern heroes like Sergio Aguero, Robin van Persie, Luis Suarez, Wazza, Harry Kane, Romelu Lukaku. But of all of these strikers, despite the sheer number of goals they scored season after season, or the net busters they managed to pull off, like an absolute beaut Robin Van Persie ripped past Aston Villa in 2013, or the ripper Shearer lashed into the net in 2001 against Everton, none have scored 32 goals in a single season. None. Nada. Zilch. Zero.

“I was sooo close”
Except this man.

Mo Salah was signed in 2017 from Italian giants Roma, after his decent performances and reasonable goal+assist return in a league considered super defensive. Jurgen Klopp, pioneer of gegenpress, that he, not Julian Brandt, was the missing piece, the man to lead the attack of the Reds and lead them to their first, first ever PL title. We pause to remind Liverpool fans that Blackburn and Leicester have won the Premier League before. Salah scored on the opening day of the PL season and pretty soon he was the most feared forward around, using his pace, powered by his desire to score goals or lay it off to his teammates to take on even the toughest of defenders.

“Hashtag Puskas Things”
He ended the 2017/18 season with 3 player of the month plaques, PFA player of the year, African player of the season, BBC African player of the season and the golden boot. He also became the first player to score 32 goals in one league campaign. Shearer and Cole, arguably two of the most elite ever have the next best with 31, and they were playing down the middle. As to affectionately put it, a guy on Twitter said that “Salah is the best thing we’ve seen since Crissy Ron.”

But after a Champions League Final where Salah came face to face with mayhem personified and left the battlefield with a broken shoulder, and a rather disappointing World Cup, few expected Mo to match his feats of the season before. And, unless the Egyptian King scores a few dozen goals before the season ends, to keep the Kop faithful title dreams alive, then yes, we the haters were right. But the best save for the big moments, and if you have an 88 rated Fifa Card, you are one of those selected few.

But to be fair to the Egyptian, he has performed. He’s still in the race for the Golden Boot, though facing stiff competition from Kun Aguero and Harry Kane, and in certain matches, like against Brighton and Wolves, it’s taken him to snag a win and keep the hopes of Liverpool alive. He’s been played as a center forward numerous times this season, and it has at times proved fruitful. To be fair, this would be a perfect season for some.

But after the high standards Mo set last season, many expect him to be targeting the standards of Cristiano Ronaldo and Leo Messi. Mo has also been unable to net against the big guns, with his account empty when it comes to any of the London sides or the Manchester giants. He has often cut a frustrated figure at times, rather than that cool figure that we PL fans were used to just a season ago. And, let’s face it, many of you have been betting on the Egyptian to net his 50th goal of the PL sooner than later. We feel for you. We really do. But when it comes to Mo, the goals will come. After all, kings are born to serve, aren’t they?

Any comments regarding The Egyptian King? Leave them in the comment box, or contact the greatest Premier League site in the world and we will do our very best to answer.
I guess his return so far is respectable but more was expected this season, not by me, he has been worked out by the good teams and now the real star of the team is doing what he did last season without the accolades. Scoring goals and weaving magic on the scouse turf, some player that Mane. I cant wait for Mahrez to get injured so Pep will start playing our magician, Sane.

Yeah, it’s quite true that the Egyptian King hasn’t been at his sparkling best. Mane, however has been a real gem, and so has Firmino too, with his work ethic. Sane has been stellar, but few can deny that the best wideman for City this season has been Raheem Sterling

Sterling is carrying on where he left off last season, the go to guy. The so called Egyptian king is overrated after 1 season flying I need to see if he can keep it up before I give him accolades like “king”

Truely City aren’t you? Admire your support. But if there is any player that I feel deserves accolades at the Etihad it should be Bernando Silva. He is truely stepped up with KDB injured, and has a work ethic second only to Ngolo Kante. The quiet force that could propel City to a possible quadruple. However despite all this insightful Cityzen chats we’ve had, I’m a Man Utd fan at heart

Start well and then finish on a bum note. I feel a bit sorry for your heart now. The Gunner bubble has burst now so good luck at the Nou Camp, lol. The main man got a hat trick last weekend and is probably looking forward to Smalling and co in the next round.

Takin the Mickey out of us eh? You do know that after you wallop Tottenham it is Juventus you are likely to play? Good luck dealing with the Daddy of the Championship League. But to be honest, City has climbed ahead of United of late. You’ve got a top coach, great midfielders, a deadly striker, you name it. And we’ve got Chris Smalling. But who knows? Our youth Stars will obviously get a stiff under Ole, and in April Chris might be inspired and hold off the little magician

I like that passive aggressive attitude got me crying for man u, lol. But no, we are going thru a good moment, I was in the stands when Raheem came from Liverpool and our fans gave him the worst time. Then the racist bits come out and you know. I am the worst judge as well when Pep came I wasn’t sure. Glad I was wrong as he has changed the whole Sterling game. At Liverpool the raw talent was obvious with Suarez and Sturridge he was not out of place when they nearly won the league. Now what a difference, the goals the skill, the cheek, the intelligence, the timing well. Ronaldo is the daddy. Everyone got to face him if you want the big one. We want it we will face him but his peers mean he will not pass the semis this year. Can Man u do it with a team that is full strength and ready, I think yes if the attitude and full team is available. See u in Madrid. IMAGINE

But if you asked me who should take this years title I will opt for our blue neighbors. If there are any teams I can’t stand they would be Liverpool and Chelsea

Any real red will never choose the scousers to prevail, but hey, we got this, you good, don’t even sweat it. That’s joke confidence. This is the realest that Liverpool have come in a minute. Whoever wins it will keep both teams at their sharpest having to compete hard in every minute of every game to the death. This peak condition will enable the two teams to make the final of the Cl.Wouldnt it be great if City could revenge Liverpool in the final for last years qt knockout. Then we could allow them this years league. You can sneak into fourth and come back better next year with your new coach (who)? The last coach u had stayed in a city centre hotel at 8 grand a night. He is not stupid so I believe he intended leaving and picked his teams with that aim. Scandalous.

City has a greater depth in terms of their squad compared to Liverpool. In midfield alone they have KDB, Silva, Bernando Silva, gundogan, foden, not to mention the deep lying ferbandinho. Such squads win championships. Liverpool haven’t got it yet. It will be deja-vu allol over again, like in 2009

Mr. Drew, am sure it must make you sick to the bone that Man City have been eluded from yet again another shot at lifting the UCL, yet Mo Salah and co or the troops of Poch may be lifting Ol Big Ears.
At least you can wrap up another league win by finishing of Brighton.
Unless there’s a twist to the tale?

Congrats. You guys deserved it, you play mesmerizing football. And you’ll only improve next season, even with the departure of the big Belgian. So painful to see a team that in the late 1990s was in the third tier of football triumphant in these modern times, much to our annoyance
